Certified Yoga Instructor may not sound as fancy as Certified Public Accountant, but my path on the yoga journey has certainly made me infinitely more happy!
For most of my adult life, I did what many of us are expected to do: go to college, get a degree (or, in my case two!), get a well-paying job at a good company and work until you are ready to retire (if ever!). I tried living that lifestyle but there was always something missing. I was constantly searching for the next thing whether it was a new job, a new hobby or simply planning the next vacation. At the same time, I had created a pretty good life: I had a Bachelor’s Degree and an MBA, I had a steady job with a good company, I ran a local chapter of a cancer support network for yoga adults, I sat on the Board of Directors for a non-profit dedicated to helping children with special needs, but something was always missing.
While training for the 30th anniversary of the New York City Marathon, a friend invited me to join him at a yoga class. I went only to be polite, not knowing that that one class would ultimately change the course of my life forever. I combined my love of travel and experiencing different cultures with my love of yoga and have traveled throughout the world learning how to incorporate the Eight Limbs of Yoga into my daily life.
My yoga practice and lifestyle has helped through some of the most stressful times of my life including a stage 4 cancer diagnosis and I know that yoga can help you too!
