Paul Petschek (SEP and C.Ht.) uses Somatic Experiencing to effectively treat not only PTSD (even the most complex kinds) but also stress-related disorders of all varieties. He has worked with many clients and conditions, including veterans, sexual assault survivors, clients with suicidal ideation, grieving adults and adolescents, hyperactive children, and clients diagnosed with conversion disorder. Using the natural tendencies of everyone’s Autonomic Nervous System to regulate (kind of like a thermostat), Paul guides his clients into experiences where they no longer feel the symptoms they are attempting to move beyond. He is assisted in this by his long experience in the filmmaking process and techniques that artfully help clients negotiate and work with their life scenes.
Paul earned a Magna Cum Laude undergraduate degree at Harvard College and his work in film as actor, director, editor, and professor at USC has taken him throughout the U.S. and overseas. His films have appeared in numerous festivals and have been nominated for distinctions including the Academy Awards in. Paul is a member of the Directors Guild of America, SAG-AFTRA, American Cinema Editors, and the Motion Picture Editors Guild. He is a trained and certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner SEP and Certified Hypnotherapist C.Ht. He is proud and grateful to help people move beyond their conditions and into a successfully lived life.
