My career started in 1979 as a Hairdresser; I learned to listen to how people wanted their hair, talk to people and generally help people relax as cutting someone’s hair is a privilege. Having professional ethic’s is an important aspect of being a hairdresser that carried through to a Holistic Facilitator. Not realising at the time what I had learned as a hairdresser was priceless. I worked in London and went on to have a salon in Potters Bar. After 5yrs I changed different direction. Still working as a hairdresser, 3 days a week, I retrained initially as an Aromatherapist, in a quest to extend my knowledge of the Holistic Mind/Body connection I also added Reiki, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, and Craniosacral Therapy (working with the cranium again!) to Laughter Yoga.
After qualifying in aromatherapy, I volunteered at Sky Light a place where people could go if they had cancer. They merged with Cherry Lodge Cancer Care a year later I continued volunteering at the Centre one day a week. The transition from Hairdresser through to a Holistic Facilitator took about 10yrs. I added new therapy’s over the years, enabling me to understand more how the body moves, stores emotions pain and how your body will release pain when you listen.
